Winchester Model 52 Scope Bases

Altered Ego

After a somewhat lengthy search for a Unertl scope to mount on a model 52 that I have, I can finally say the search is over. While hunting/camping in Tenneesse over the Thanksgiving weekend, just by chance I decided to check out an army surplus store in the area and as soon as I walked in the door, she jumped out at me...gorgeous I must say. Anyway, now it's on to the mounts since I currently have nothing but drilled and tapped holes on the gun. Can someone steer me toward a set of mounts...new or used, I have no preference.

The Model 52 Unertal scope use something like the front sight bases for target sights.

The Model 52 should already be drilled and tapped for these bases, you just have to do a bit of searching to find the hole spacings to match your rifle.

This is a H&R Model 5200 that is pretty much the same thing. The army bought 5200s (calling them Model 12s) after Winchester stopped making 52s.

The scope is a Remington, but mounts the same way as the Unertal, although the Unertal is longer and the front mount is on the barrel, again which should already be drilled and tapped.

The scope "blocks" for a Unertl are normally spaced at 7.25" to obtain 1/4" click adjustment. Remember that changing the scope block distance will dramatically change the click settings on any external adjustment scope.

i think i have unertl bases for your 52,i will need your model number and weight of barrel(sporter, heavy or bull). a picture would be very helpfull. eastbank.

i,m not sure the spaceing of the bases are factory(will affect click value only), but the hole spaceing for the bases look right, i,m at hunting camp till the end of the week. i will then go thru my bases and make sure i have them and the screws for you.i,m pretty sure i have them. nice looking unertl! eastbank.
