winchester Model 1887

We have an old winchester leveraction shotgun serial number is 48789. we've never shot it but it has been shot i was wondering what year it is and if refinishing it would bring up its value or if we kept it like it its. Its in good condition wood is bearly beat up.

The general on an antique is clean and polish (lightly.) Refinishing reduces the value. Somebody will be along shortly to answer the rest of the questions .
