While the Winchester Model 1300 is a very good gun, I certainly wouldn't say it's "the ultimate in home defense".
You'll get a stiff argument on that from the Remington 870, which is the standard by which all other pump guns are judged.
The Browning BPS is simply a higher quality gun than the Winchester.
The Winchester was designed to be a lower price gun, usable for all shotgun purposes from hunting to defense.
The Browning, like all Brownings, was designed to be a premium sporting gun.
