winchester model 101

They are good shotguns. Have not shot a 20 ga but have shot a 12 ga. The 12 seems to kick a little hard compared to others. Maybe a step below a Browning Citori. Looking to sell?

I have shot skeet with several guys who shot a 101. They were very popular 35 years ago in 26" Skeet/Skeet. Very good quality for that time in history as far as I know. I have shot a round or two with a borrowed/loaner back then and I remember them as a very tight gun (you could feel the quality when you closed them) and they just felt right when you shoulder them. Some guys had the full set of tubes and shot all 5 gages if I can remember right.

There may be a difference in the quality of some of the field grade 101's compared to the more custom skeet grades but I always thought the basic gun was about the same other than the wood, engraving and checkering etc. I myself shot an 1100 Remington Skeet for many years and always wanted to upgrade to the 101 someday, then the Cetori's became popular etc. etc. etc. and I still have my 1100 waiting to upgrade someday...

It was a long time ago, that I do remember.

Maybe this is all more than you need to know ... ahh the memories, a true sign of age.

my dad inherited a winchester 101 o/u 20 gauge and i think a winchester model 24 sxs 12 gauge when my grandfather passed away last year

In 1978 when I bought my Citori, I shot a Winchester 101 quite a bit, almost bought it for trap and skeet shooting. Very nice gun, very well made, a little lighter than the Citori. I only opted for the Citori because a guy offered me one at half the price of a new gun.
