Winchester model 100

Need help with firing pin removal on a Winchester model 100 (.308).
I have been trying to find a manual but haven’t had any luck.
It was produced in 1967.

I do think there was a recall on the model 100 firing pin years back. Pin could break, and cause a round to discharge when the bolt slams forward. If you aren't sure, I'd check the serial number with Winchester to see if you need the new pin. You may get to have a factory gunsmith disassemble it for free.

Tom I have checked with Winchester and my pin has not been changed. I can send my 100 to California or have a local gunsmith replace it. The thing is if I take it to a local smith he has to remove the pin and then send it to Winchester then they will send him the pin and a $30.00 check for changing the pin. I thought if I was to remove the pin I would save some time.

I've never messed with a 100, so I'd favor having a pro do it. Your choice. Important thing is to get the new pin properly installed. A kaboom before the bolt completely closes can be nasty.

Yes Tom that is the problem 100's have is the pin breaks and is left protruding from the bolt causing an early "kaboom". I have no intention of putting the new pin in only removing the old one to speed up the repair.
Thanks

winchester model 100

I reciently acquired a .243 model 100 and just got it back from Bolsa gunsmiths after the firing pin change. I am trying to remove the stock for refinishing but havent found the combination. Does anyone have instructions that will allow the stock to come off?
Thanks in advance.

notes on disassembling Model 100 (included in his Model 88 data):

m100 disassembly..

remove forearm screw from barrel extension,
pull op handle to rear and hold it.
Rotate barrel up and back (the op rod needs to be back to seperate from stock).
Make two 5/16 diameter by .73" long slave pin to push out the two pins visible in the lower receiver.
This will allow the removal trigger assembly.
