What are your opinions on the model 70 extreme weather SS? I really like it but cant get over that they used 22" barrels on calibers that typically have a 24". Ex: 30-06, 270, 25-06. It probably doesn't really matter, or does it? But it bothers me lol. Thoughts??

You won't be able to take full advantage of the .30-06 family of cartridges with a shorter barrel. But you will be able to get enough velocity to do the job.

The same thing could be said of the 24" barrel as opposed to the 26", and so on up to iirc ~35".

That version of the Model 70 isn't meant to be a bean field gun.

22" is standard barrel length for the cals. you mentioned , except Rem. makes their 25-06s with a 24" ! If you need more velocity get a 300WM .

Oneoldsap...

I may need to double check but I'm pretty positive most Remington 700s come standard with 24" and 26" in mag calibers. That's what they're doing lately, I don't know about back in the day though :)
