Winchester Mod 70

I need help with the bolt on my 243 Win Model 70 Winchester.
The previous owner forced opened the bolt with the safety on bolt lock mode (the safety all the way back) wrecking the safety plunger. I would like to repair or replace the safety plunger, but I don't know how to remove the safety retaining pin, the pin seems to be in a blind hole, with no way to push it out. My guess is it has to be drilled out, but I want to make sure. Maybe someone out there has a better way. Any logical information would greatly be appreciated. I have machine shop experience and have good steel to make a safety plunger if need be.

It is not a blind hole, just that the end of the pin on the other (left) side is polished down. You should be able to tap the pin out right to left to remove the safety. I hope it will come out and is not battered in place.

Thanx

I figured it out and it don't come out from the opposite side, it comes out where the largest part of the firing pin goes through the breech bolt sleeve and it has to be pushed from outside in because there is no way to get a punch inside the breech bolt sleeve to push it out that way. Now it's just a matter of turning another plunger, the old one is badly damaged beyond repair, put it back in the breech bolt sleeve and reassembling the bolt.

All done and the safety works the way it should...locks the bolt closed when all the way back. Just saved a parcel of money in shipping alone. LOL
