Winchester M70 Pre-64 info needed

I need some education on Winchester Model 70 pre 64.

I have one, per Winchester factory, they said it was made in 1959. I am trying to find scope bases that fit. I spoke to Weaver tech support and was told that Per 64’s have only three holes for the bases, so I would need a one piece mount. (Weaver 48936). Leupold said (#49836 two piece)

I have four holes on top for mounting. The rifle has on it now Millett see-thru 1” rings with a Weaver V9-B/3-9AO. I am looking at mounting a newer more powerful scope on it and they are 30mm tubes. Looking at putting on a Counter Sniper 4-48x56, to do this I need to install two piece bases and find x-tall rings that will fit on weaver style bases and clear for the main objective: 56mm.

Does anybody know, did this 1959 Win M70 come with three scope mounting holes or four?
Any ideas??
Thanks guys

Thanks Bart,

Mine has four holes also and I have a new set of 46 &47 bases for it. I think I am ok with this.

Thanks Guys

I don't know what the tech at Weaver was talking about. but, I've got new 46 and 47 bases for it.

I need to start a new post to see if anybody has reports about Counter Sniper scopes. I have not heard much good or bad about them.

Winchester M70 Pre 64 30-06

Yep, I can't find anything good being said about Counter Sniper scopes, so I'm back on the hunt for a scope. I want to put something big on this Winchester M70 pre 64 30-06. What do you guys recommend?
