Winchester Defender

Apologies if this topic has been brought up before:

The local Big 5 carries the Winchester Defender (about $270). I've heard a lot about Mossbergs and Remington 870's, but never known anyone who's owned one of these. Is the Defender comparable in reliability and durability to the other two, with it's rotary bolt?

I've owned all three and prefer the Winchester.
Your right, this topic has been brought up many times lately. It's almost getting ridiculous. :(

Fellow Arizonan, the Winchester 1300 Defender is an excellent shotgun. I own two. I also own a REmington 870 and I prefer the 1300. The 1300 is lightning fast. That's because of the rotary bolt which unlocks right after the shot so that it practically pumps itself. Look for posts from wm1300defender and others. You will find that the 1300 is a real deal at $270 once you fire one. I wouldn't part with my 1300s for anything.

Nothing compares with the 870 in durability, but...

There's darn few 500s and 1300s that have been worn out by one generation of shooter, possibly none. The difference may be that with a 1300, your grnadkids may think it's getting a bit loose, with an 870 it might be your great grandkids.

Handle a 1300, mount it a few times. If it rings your chimes, buy it and enjoy...
