Would you please help me with comparing Winchester AutoComp to Hodgdon Tightgroup?
Which would work best for my needs.
I am reloading: 44 mag, 45 ACP and 45 Auto Rim, should that help in your thoughts.
I've been using titegroup for my 9mm loads since I started loading. It's an excellent plinking powder as its very economical with its low weight charges. I have used it with 115, 124, 135, and 147gr loads with good results in a m&p, glock19, P229, and a shield. JUST BE SURE TO DOUBLE CHECK YOUR CHARGES AS A DOUBLE CHARGE IS VERY EASY NOT TO NOTICE. However, with that said, I highly recommend it and will opt for it for my plinking rounds over any other powder.
I just started testing autocomp out for 115gr speer gold dots. I have not shot much of it but I don't have anything to bad to say about it so far. It is a pretty well established powder with 9major shooters for its pressure stability. I want to do more research with this powder as my initial impressions were pretty positive with the exception of it being a little dirty on the low end of the charge weights. But that's why we clean em right? you shouldn't have to worry about double charges with this powder as much compared to titegroup.
It would also help to know what would be your desired application of these powders.
It's hard to compare them when we don't know what you want to load .
They both meter really well
IMO Auto comp as quite a bit slower burn rate then Titegroup so in general I'd say Titegroup is better with light for caliber bullets and Auto comp is better for the heavier for caliber bullets .
I think the faster burn rate of Titegroup helps it burn cleaner . I find Auto comp to be pretty sooty with some case scorching .
Titegroup can get kinda temperamental if pushed hard in 45acp with heavy bullets but that goes to it being better for the lighter for caliber bullets . Although I've not tested them I'd think Titegroup and 185gr bullets in 45acp may do quite well . It works great with 115gr 9mm loads .
