Winchester 96 choke questions

I recently inherited my fathers Winchester 96 O/U. It is choked F/M. Is the barrel thick enough to have screw in choke tubes installed? I really would like to use it for sporting clays but F/M is way too tight. I'm told I can't shoot steel through it for duck/geese either.
 
Measure the wall thickness of the barrels, then call the folks at Brileys in TX. They used to specialize in installing super thin choke tubes in older guns.
