Winchester 94AE First year of Production?

I have acquired a Winchester Model 94AE. What was the first year of production of the AE? Reason I ask is because it has to be post 64, but it does have the screw forward of the lever. Right? I have pre-64's pre war 64 even. The AE is cool, i must admit however. Functions amazingly!

Right around 1983 is when the Model 94 AE was first introduced. A real step-up from earlier post-64 variants. The AE was made with all steel forgings.
 
All steel forgings, that's why is feels and shoots better than my early post 64's. Thanks for the info! The AE is a nice one.
