Winchester 94 trigger job?

Is there somewhere I can send my .357 Magnum Winchester 94 trapper carbine to get that annoying spring-loaded slack removed from the trigger, and maybe some better sights installed?

I'd kinda prefer one in a bigger bore (got this one on sale). Maybe I should sell it and put the money towards getting a little lever carbine in .45 Colt or .44 Magnum. Funny, I also want a lever rifle, 20" barrel, in .30-30 and an Marlin Guide Gun in .45-70.

I guess I just like lever rifles. :D

I resurrected an old 1902 rust-bucket of a Model 1894. It didn't look like it would take a rocket scientist to do some improving on the trigger.

Aren't there any gunsmiths in your general area?

FWIW, I have worked over those triggers, taking out the slack and converting them to a single stage with a fairly light pull. I don't know if I would do it today, with 300 billion lawyers ready to pounce, but it can be done.

I once (about 20 years ago) had an 1894 really worked over by a good gunsmith (who asked I not ever say his name because he never would do it again) and had the trigger fixed and tuned, put a target grade barrel and fitted chamber and really nice peep sights on it. He said turning the target barrel down to standard contours was just about as hard as getting a tight chamber reamer made. He also tightened the action and made it work extremely smoothly. It became a hobby to him, how accurate can a 94 be made. I must admit that although I paid a lot (I was 18 at the time) I am sure today I just barely covered his costs for parts and not much for labor.

Anyway, suffice it to say that the gun was very accurate and worked perfectly.

Unfortunately in the middle of my sophomore year of college I had to sell it to get through school. The gun was later involved in a crime and dumped it the snow, it was stored wet in police custody and the last I saw or heard of it, it was a rusty dirty mess, sitting in an evidence rack that I had to identify as the "owner of record" and produce a bill of sale showing I had sold it.

How I regret every selling it today!
