Winchester 94 Trails End Octagonal .44 Magnum

Just bought one that's unfired for $650. Is that a good price? Are they good shooters with 44 mags and with 44 specials? Thanks, Dennis
 
No, you got took. I'll give you $300 for it. Just kidding of course, I think you did pretty good. If it's in good condition and your happy with it, I'd say you did just fine.
 
Most of the .44 rifles I know of used relatively slow 1:38" twist rates, so you may get better accuracy with 240gr than 300 gr's, and might do even better with 200's. I haven't messed around with reloading for a .44 rifle for years but the first thing I'd do is to do a 200 - 240 - 270 - 300 comparison.
 
94 Win. 44mag Carbine

The Marlin Mod.1894 has a 1 in 38" twist and it has been like that for years and is today the same.

The 94 Winchester 44 mag carbine has had a 1 in 20 twist from the beginning of production of their 44 mag cal 94 carbines and rifles and will handle the heavier bullets much better than the Marlin.
