I have a Winchester Model 94 30-30 and I believe it is pre-1964. It is a carbine with open ramp front sight and adjustable dovetail rear sight and has a 20" round barrel. The serial number is: 1840927. Can anyone tell me the year it was made and possibly the value?
From what I can find yours was made in 1952. We'll see if everyone else agrees. I used a list from a winchester collectors website that I downloaded to my computer a couple of years ago to date my win 94. Value is really going to depend on condition and if it has been altered, re blued, etc. Price should start at $400 and up if you were selling. Do a search on www.gunbroker.com and see what others are asking for theirs. I like to use this for comparison. As an example of a best case scenario, here is one in excellent shape with the original box made in 51 and has a buy it now price of $850. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=225774907
I agree. The date on the receiver is 1952. However, from what I've heard, sometimes receivers would sit around the shop for a while before being mated to a barrel and stock. That's not necessarily the year it left the factory, simply the date that the serial number was recorded in the records.
I just got off the phone with Winchester (an afterthought) by the serial number, they also said it was 1952. I also have the original box, though the label on the end has been mostly worn off.
