Winchester 94 .44 Magnum Woes

Howdy everyone,

Long story short, I bought a new-to-me Winchester 94 chambered in .44 Magnum. The rifle came with an awful Ramline synthetic stock so I replaced that with a Boyd's walnut stock and threw on a Leupod VX3 scope on it.

At the range I was sighting the rifle in at 100 meters when I started having some issues. I would put a few rounds downrange and the rifle's point of impact would change by a couple of feet! What I mean is that I would get three rounds touching at center right of the target and then I would fire another three and it would be at the bottom left! Regardless of how hard I tried my rifle kept shooting rounds all over the place.

Right now I have no clue and I would like to know what's causing my gun to shoot so strangely.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks for the help.

Hey .357!

My Dad had a very early model of that rifle, purchased in the '70's, no tang safety, and a saddle ring. He had the barrel drilled and tapped and ran a pistol scope out ahead of the receiver, scout style, this in the '70's...!!!!!!

What vintage is your carbine?
