Winchester 45 Auto 230 GR. JHP

Did you get a new camera for Christmas? This is the second video I've seen from you in two minutes. BTW, I would use it if I didn't use 357 instead. I have tried it and it works fine in my 1911. I have a box on my shelf. I figure in a 45 it would do the job.

I used to carry it in a Glock 30. It got 880 fps out of that short barrel. It was reliable in every gun I ever fired it through. And it was cheap enough that I could fire enough rounds through a gun to trust it.

I shot a pig with it once, (twice actually) and it perforated through about 10" of tissue. It left a large enough wound track I'm pretty sure it expanded. I also a second round through the head- not sure if that round expanded.

That's the extent of my experience with the Winchester JHPs.

It's an older design bullet, but I have read positive reports on its performance and no negatives (other than the usual "If it's not the most expensive, premium ammo on the plant it's not good enogh for me" stuff). Since most trainers with any credibility suggest shooting anywhere between 200 and 500 rounds of your chosen self-defense ammo through your pistol with NO failures of any kind to prove reliability, obviously when you choose ammo that costs $1 a round that reliability testing can get costly.

I have no problem carrying the Winchester stuff. I carry 1911s in .45 Auto. If the bullet doesn't expand, I'm still making a half-inch hole in the bad guy.

I shot the Winchester "white box" 45 acp out of a 5'' barrel and it wasn't lacking in power.
230 gr. ammunition, average for 5 shots:
Remington 230 JHP @ 871 fps / 388# KE
Winchester "white box" 230 JHP @ 912 fps / 424# KE
Winchester Ranger T 230 @ 928 fps / 440# KE

I used it to take this beast he dropped in tracks. He was around 275lbs and their shoulders are like tank armour.
