Winchester 300 Ultra Mag

Afternoon folks...a friend of mine has a 300 ultra mag bolt action...he wants to sight in in and he is wondering if it will be ok to use the "short action" 185gr rounds...Thanks!

So, he wants to put a 300 WSM or RSAUM into a 300 RUM? Well, with a bit of luck the cartridge will slip far enough into the chamber to not ignite. If he's unlucky and is using a controlled feed action he won't need to do more than one shot, without eyes you don't have to worry about sighting in a rifle.
