Winchester 21 Special Order Guns

Hi all: I have been doing some research on the codes used by Winchester when ordering the Model 21 during the production years. It looks to me that all gun configurations that were not cataloged for that year with factory codes (example 1955 G2107B as a 12 gauge with 28 inch barrels, choked M and F) were given the default code of G2100B. That is not to say that any gun with the default code (G2100B) are custom guns, but that they were simply special ordered because they did not meet the cataloged listing. Does anyone have an alternative reason for so many Model 21's with the G2100B code and no listing of that code in any publication? Also, does the "B" at the end stand for beaver tail forearm? Thanks.

For the B prefix:

Checkering ran from fairly simple diamond or kidney patterns, to the elegant "A" pattern, to the ornate "B" pattern fleur-de-lis style.
