Winchester 1906 22cal pump , safe ammo ?

I just bought a 1906, 22 cal pump , the bore looks good , but I am concerned with the pressures of modern ammo. Would it be smart to start with a 22 short ?

Any help would be appreciated.

My Model 1906 made in 1912 is S/L/LR, and has eaten anything I have fired including Super Colibri's, and CCI Hyper-Velocity...I do have to 'smartly' work the action to effectively eject the spent CCI's due to their case length...
