Winchester 190 Broken Firing Pin

I have a Winchester 190 with a broken firing pin, ordered new one on line, problem is: I can't slide the new pin past the extractor lobe, get's hungup. Do not want to force...Anyone have any ideas??? Thanks

the takedown instruction i have show the extractor being removed before the firing pin. that means you need to remove the extractor&combination extractor/firing pin spring,then install the new firing pin. hope this is helpful,jim

Winchester 190

While you have it apart, check the barrel for wiggle. The Winchester 190 and 290 had a problem with the barrel loosening, especially if you fire a lot of hyper-velocity rounds.
Grab hold of the barrel, if it wiggles, the barrel nut needs tightening. Before you do this, make sure the threads are completely cleaned, and liquid threadlock applied. Don't overtighten the nut, just enough so the barrel stops moving. The procedure is described in detail elsewhere.

thanks for the replies, but can not seam to get extractor removed...does your manual show the "slide nechanism" coming apart???? Also, thanks for advice on barrel, will check before reassembling...

my instructions say,"drift out the vertical pin on the left side of the bolt to allow the firing pin to be moved toward the rear.easing the tension of the combination firing pin spring and extractor spring. note: there is a steel ball bearing at each end of the spring. take care that these are not lost. remove the extractor pivot pin from it's hole in the top front of the bolt. with the spring tension removed ,the pin should come out when the bolt is inverted and tapped with a light hammer. if i knew how this link thing worked(please nobody try to explain it would just kill off my last 3.5 brain cells)i'd send you the complete instructions.try harley nolden for a copy he understands guns &computers better than i do,jim
