Hi thanks in advance for the help I know there is a ton of knowledge in the collective here.
I picked up a beat up old 1897 a while back and was starting the dissaembly process but got hung up on the carrier stop pin. The hammer is stuck to the rear so I don't know if that is causing extra tension on it or what, but it won't budge. The trigger was not functioning when I got it so I couldn't drop the hammer that way either. It's been soaked in penetratung oil so far to no avail. I figured someone on hear had some experience with this. Thanks

Carrier stop pin is the one located..

on the right reciever side above the trigger.
Remove that and the small screw retaining the pivot pin [on the top angle surface of the carrier next to the hammer] behind and above the trigger should allow the carrier to drop and be remove down and forward from the trigger.

The hammer needs to be back as it is inside the rear of the carrier and retained by the sear spring.
