Winchester 1894

Hi everyone,
I want to share some pics of my Winchester 1894. It was given to me along with a Schmidt-Rubin 89/11, and an Argentine Mauser by the widow of its previous owner as a thank you for moving some furniture in 2009, and has sat it my safe since then.
It looks like the last owner used it to practice checkering on the stock. the serial number is 439xxx. From poking around these forums, I have deduced its a pre-'64, and possibly manufactured in 1905. if anyone can tell me anything more about it from the photos, i would love to hear it. Thanks!

thanks for the info

Cool, thanks for the link and the heads up on the serial number. Its my first post and first time joining a forum after many years of lurking on various forums. I appreciate the pointers.

From the staining on the stock, your 1894 has been wet at some time in its past. I would advise you to do a very thorough cleaning to remove or stop any rust present and reduce the chance of further degradation of your firearm.

Danger of revealing serials is an urban myth. There has never been a known case of any trouble ensuing. What could someone do with the serial? Report it stolen and try to claim it? False police report is a felony. Attempted theft is a felony. It wouldn't work. Afraid the government is tracking the guns you own? Trust me, the government already knows about your guns.

For about 12 years I have been making this serial public. From a Colt 45. 70N30498. Go ahead and do your worst.

Sorry to wander off topic.
