Hi, just came across a 1894 winchester, very good condition. # 457096, does anyone what something like this is worth ?

Just taking a quick look at the book we have at work, there are alot of variables that will determine exact value.

Types I found listed are
Sporting (450-4k)
Fancy Sporting (900-12k)
Extra lightweight (450-5k)
Carbine (200-3k)
Trappers Carbine (700-6.5k)

"Takedown versions are worth 20% more"
"Factory engraving on the Fancy can be very valuable" Should verify that it is factory done

"Values given are for guns with saddle rings Deduct 35% for carbines without. Add 25% for carbines chambered in .25-35 or .38-55."

From: 2012 Standard Catalog of Firearms

Sometimes its good to work in a library

Pics are worth a thousand words - but also a description, including caliber, good too. As previously stated, there are lots of variants.

Yours looks to have been made in 1908. Too many variables to give an estimate of value by description.

We can't tell you anything unless you post some pictures...

If it's a saddle ring carbine in .30 WCF, with folding ladder rear sight, excellent bore, no rust or pitting through out, clean action, with nice stock, then about $700.

A good Winchester will last at least 100 years with minimal routine maintenance. I got this one new in 1995 and its a genuine keeper.
