Winchester 1890 - .22 short

I recently picked up this old pump winnie .22. It needs a new feed tube assembly but otherwise functions nicely. It is clearly a gun that has seen use but I was told that it is extremely accurate. Will I destroy it's value by replacing the tube assembly? I have seen several other examples of this gun, all in much better shape, and figured this just to be a shooter not a collecter type gun.

Any modifications will effect the value to some point. If you found one of the 22 shorts that actually has a good bore left, I'd be hesitant to alter the rifle. Most of shorts I've seen have bores like sewer pipes from serving hard with no cleaning.
