winchester 1300

I recently watched "Mad Max: Fury Road" and one of the shotguns used there was the Winchester 1300 Defender. Just out of curiosity:
1.) Was or is this gun used by any branch of the US Armed Forces?
2.) In the movie it was seemingly used with slugs - is that realistic or would the choke prevent it (given it has not been modified, of course)?

The choke will not be affected; however the accuracy may with too tight of a choke.

Defenders had cylinder bores. As in no choke. Made for slugs and/or buckshot. Only made between 1981 and 2007. No official military use.
Likely use in that movie due to availability in Australia. Nothing in movies is real.
