bought a like new defender with extended tube for 200 is that a good deal ,i want to add to my collection ,i heard good and bad about winchester 1300s.seems well made..

Yes, that is a good deal. And yes they are well-made. The Winchester 1300 is a good shotgun and definitely has it's fans. Of course, it's not comparable to the late, great Model 12, but it competed pretty well against it's true competition...Remington & Mossberg. Problem is, Winchester as a company didn't.

Terrible deal! Out of the goodness of my heart, I will take it off your hands for a mere $25.00 loss. :D

I can't find them for sale in my area, much less at that low a price. I love 1300's! Enjoy!

I have two winchester 1200 shotguns. A 12 gauge with a plain barrel and a second barrel I found that I had cut down to 19" for HD. I also found a 20 gauge Ted Williams with a vent rib barrel and a factory installed poly choke. It looks almost like new. I paid a hundred bucks for it.

So what is the differance between a 1200 ans a 1300? Will the barrels interchange. I found a 20 gauge barrel for $65 that has been cut down. I haven't bought it yet but I sure am tempted. It only has a 2 3/4" and the original is a 3" chamber.

I had a 1300 Defender myself years ago. It was loud to shoot. It sure made a good quail gun though.

this one looks like new .i hope it sounds like a cannon it is a 12 ga last 1300 i had i had to take a bottle of asprin after i shot it seems like they have more recoil than a 870

I've got a 1300, hunter grade, wood-stocked, 20 gauge. It was originally purchased as a "try gun" or "hand-off gun" for friends, GF, kids, etc. to see if they like upland game and clay. Birch (I think) stocks covered with a bad walnut stain job.

Functional, reliable, easy to swing and point. I actually like it. Mine has had 500-600 shells through it without a hick-up. It is definitely smoother now than when new.

I have had target, and pheasant/grouse loads through it as well as the standard "Ohio" deer slugs.

Do I have confidence in the gun? Yes, definitely. Would I buy it again? No, if just because it is discontinued and parts will be tough.

Also, it mostly sits now, because the list of people above have found prettier guns in my safe.

There are two Winchester 1300's in this house. One is my wife's very well used 20-gauge, cut down for social use, and the other is my 120 Ranger 12-gauge, also cut down for social work with a mag extension added. Wonderful guns they are. I wouldn't mind getting a 1300 Marine and I know the wife would like a 12-gauge of her own at this point. In fact, she just now told me that if we ran across a Marine, we'd have to fight over it. :D
