Winchester 1300 where to buy different smooth bore barrels?

so i have a 1300 12 gauge black shadow. came with a 28" barrel. i am looking for shorter smooth bore barrels with the vent rib, just like how mine is now, just shorter.

I am looking for a smooth bore vent rib barrel that is about 22" long.

all i seem to find are 28 and 26" barrels, and 22" barrels but they are rifled with sights built in on them, or 22" smooth bore with rifle sights and no vent rib.

Also would it be possible for me to cut down my barrel myself and buy the right tap and thread the end of the muzzle to accept the winchokes, basically making the barrel the same as the one i have now, just shorter? or is there special tools/technique ect to be able to internally thread the barrel/put chokes on yourself?

Wow...

why would you want to ruining such a beautiful gun? I would personally go out and buy yourself a ready made home defence shotgun that has shorter barrel. The 1300 Win is an awesome shotgun for field uses and not sure you want to cut the barrel.

I have seen Mossberg or Remington 870 home defence go for as low as $199 in some places.

Keep the 1300 with 28" barrel and buy yourself another shotgun! Or sell it and buy yourself another shotgun.

the gun is a hunting gun. in the woods squirrel hunting and walking around the 28" barrel is just too long and gets caught on brush. i was looking at it over a period of 3 days in teh woods and decided that a total overall barrel length of 24" would be perfect. So with that said, i also wanted to add a poly choke w/ vents which i beleive to be about 2" long.

28" barrel is nice when you are shooting clays, ducks, or somewhere where there isnt a lot of brush. but when the thing is on a sling on my back, and me being 6'4" the top of the barrel tends to get caught on stuff.

SO i'm just looking if winchester made a 22" smooth bore barrel for her, or any other company as well.

Local store has a NIB Winchester 1300 for $250. Is this a good price and can anyone give me benifits of the 1300 over other shotgun designs?
 
thanks universal. Infact the other night i found they make a 22" smooth bore with the poly choke, same vent rib ect and got all excited haha

crosshair, thats a good price, thats how much i bought mine for out the door about a year ago.

COmpared to other guns, that i looked at like the 870/nova/moss 500 ect i found the action to be nice and tight feeling with no real slop in it compared to the others, shouldered great for me and with the aluminium body is about a 1 lb lighter than others which really helps out. action is nice and slick, and gets better with age. I say shoulder it and work the action and if you like what you have in your hands pick it up, i dont think you will be disapointed.

only things i noticed on it, was where the barrel hits the reciever, the aluminium reciever kind of mushroomed alittle bit there, but that happened after like 500 rounds and now at like 1500 it hasnt gotten worse or changed at all. i beleive it kind of just 'mated' with each other and that was that. also the ejector spring, there is a small screw, that you could get to if you opened the action and went at it from the ejection port. i noticed that got loose once, maybe twice. never totally backed out ect. I dont think thats normal to have to tighten something like that on any gun. however i beleive some blue loctite and a firm tightness on it and it should be good for the rest of time kind of thing. i'll keep an eye on it.

also i kind of wish the slide release poked out of the trigger group just a tad bit more. i like the saftey placement and the action release lever i can operate with my right thumb just kind of sliding my hand around the back of the reciever and rotating left. hard to explain easy to see when you hold the gun.

it comes apart really easy, only tools you need is a stick or something similar to push out one pin, that holds the trigger group to the reciever. the magazine end cap screws off and thats all you need to do to break it down.

i liked the fact that it fit me best, has one less main part to rust (reciever), and is lighter.

its all personal preference really, but i am happy with mine.
