I was at a pawn shop today and saw a winchester model 101 skeet for 899 i figure i can get it for 750. Anyway i also plan on getting tubes for it to be a competetion gun. Does anybody have any advice i was looking and it looks to be in good shape.
Thank you in advance,
Walt

A bit high I think. I was looking at a used 101 in our local Gander Mountain a couple of weeks ago. Choked skeet and skeet (fixed chokes), 12 guage, 26" barrels, still tight, good condtion with a few scrtches. $699.

Well i was looking around and i cant seem to find one under 1800. Also i found a 425 Skeet with briley tubes on guns america for 1800 this might be what i will get as it would be cheaper than getting the 101 getting tubes and getting a case. Advice still wanted.

I once had a used Win Diamond grade 101 Trap combo that I shot for a couple of years. It had a 34" unsingle barrel and a 30" O/U barrel with winchokes. I believe I finally sold it for $1800 in 1994.

Find what fits and use it. It's a gamble with anything over the internet, could be a gem, or a lump of coal. Good luck.

For some reason 101’s seem to be going up in price, why I have no idea, but that price does seem high. If you are going into competition the 101 would not be my first choice, parts are hard to find and repair is not that easy. However with that said, I had a set of Diamond grade 101’s and the 12 and 20 gauges had over 100,000k through them with no problems what so ever. The 28 and 410 looked to be fired maybe 500 or less. I recently sold then and picked up a Beretta with tubes and had some money left over. A buddy has a field grade 101 with tubes that he hardly ever shoots, has had them for 3 years and has only shot the sub-gauges twice and I’m not 100% sure he has ever fired the 410. Seems like a waste of money to me, but what do I know? The total for tubes and case is going to be close to $2k after shipping back and forth and the lead time is about 6 weeks. If you have your heart set on the 101 get it you won’t be disappointed, if you don’t, look around for a gun with tubes, your save a little in the long run.
