Wilson Super Grade

If you are gonna spend that kind of money you should probably contact one of the "name" 1911 smiths who will build up the pistol to your own exact specifications. For three and a half grand you should end up with a freaking work of art. Not that Wilson does not put out an incredible product with the finest customer service, but that kind of scratch could be put to better use I think.

I like Wilson Combat and all. I use their mags and own one of their Service Grade two tone protectors but if I were gonna drop that kind of cash on a gun I'm gonna do some real hunting and find all the features I want. materials, etc. and then find the right smith to do that work. A production house isn't gonna give you your money's worth on a project like that.

I agree with the above posters. When I decided to buy a multi-K 1911, I ordered it from a custom smith. Unfortunately, the best known ones have a looooong backlog (measured in years). There is a lot of good info at http://www.pistolsmith.com/index.php

I own 2 Wilson Protectors, which are excellent guns, but the next expensive 1911 I buy (other than the above ordered custom I am still waiting for) will probably be an Ed Brown, which you may want to check out ( http://www.edbrown.com/ ).
