Wilson Combat Remington Steal

Just in from Wilson Combat (and Scattergun Technology) is a rebuilt Remington 870. At first glance is quite a good looking gun with that new finish and synthetic furniture. A few years ago I had sent a number of shotguns to SGT, before they were bought by Wilson, and was extremely happy with their work.

While the work on the Wilson appears to be quite good, I did notice the following. Sling attachments, stock stud and magazine cap, were gone. A call to Wilson resulted in them sending out their sling attachment that fits under the magazine cap, no quick release now, and a swivel attached to a bolt & nut. Another call revealed that the bolt and nut was for a hole that I was to drill in the side of the stock. Examination of this Remington brand butt
stock revealed a rather thin walled stock, though time will tell how this attaching method is going to work. Prior guns were returned with Speedfeed stocks, complete with sling attachment points.

One might do well to mark the barrel you send in, as in our case, we received someone else's barrel. Utilizing a different rear rifle sight then my original gun, it will most likely do. I would hate to have a VangComp job done to my barrel and then have Wilson's give it to someone else. If I do this again, I intend to mark my barrel very well, so no doubt about whose it is.

I have another gun to send them, one requiring more work, and am anxious to see how it turns out. Their customer service was prompt and efficient, although I was less then completely satisfied with the finished product. They did point out some very NICE bargain specials that they are running for Law Enforcement.

Thanks for the info,Kilroy. You're more tolerant than I, if my bbl was sent, my bbl should be on the weapon on its return.

Also, how about a cost breakdown, if you don't mind? Thanks...

I was in a shop the other day and saw a couple of Wilson/SGT 870s. They had the gooney safety with the lockout/key. I know it's not Wilson's fault that Remington puts that in their guns, but I wish they would make a replacement for it.
