Wilson Combat chamber brush (.45 ACP)

Does anyone here have knowledge of, or experience with, the Wilson Combat chamber brush (for .45 ACP chamber)? Does it really help? Or is it just another ploy to sell a tool.
Also, they say that when the chamber brush is new (and the bristles are still hard), it can possibly scratch the inside of the chamber a little. Should this be a concern? Thanks!

I have never used one, I have heard of them though. A standard bore brush with a patch or two wrapped around it will clean the chamber very well. If you want a bigger brush for this, just use a brand new, fresh from the package .45 bore brush. I think it is a "....ploy to sell a tool."

As to scratching the chamber, you have brass v. steel. Steel should win, unless you spend a real lot of time scrubbing the chamber. :)

FIWT, IMHO, YMMV and LS/MFT

Have one and it is one of things that had I not gotten it free, I would not have spent the money for. It does get the grime out if you happen to shoot dirty stuff, but there are other methods for doing the same. The brush is steel not bronze so if you have a tight chamber you could end up scratching it. I have not noticed any marks on my chamber yet.

Hi shamster;
I have one. It works fine for the 1911A1 barrel, and there's little chance of scratching your chamber with it; those stainless bristles DO bend. Its main advantage is in having a stubby short handle, which makes it easy to "ream" the chamber out. The problem is, the handle is so close to the base of the brush that you can only push the brush in till it is stopped by contact between handle & chamber. For 1911A1s, no problem, while for barrels which have an enlarged chamber for direct lock-up in the slide's ejection port (eg, Glocks, Sigs, H&K USPs), the brush doesn't quite reach to the end of the chamber. You might want to get a .50BMG bronze brush for those guns, but for the 1911A1 barrel, the Wilson brush is fine. Best.
