Williams sights for Winchester 94

Any body have experience with the FP series Williams peep sights for the Win 94 angle eject model carbine. I 'm wondering if the front sight needs to be changed like it does for the Ashley product.

I don't have any experiance with the Williams sight made specifically for the AE, but have installed three different Williams peeps (1 M94, 1 M94 AE <old style sight>, 1 Mar. 39), and never needed sight change. Williams seems to design their sights to work with factory sights, and will state when sight change is required (E.G. certain Ruger carbines). Since they make no statement as to sight change for AE models, you should be ready to go. You should never regret the investment. :-)

tuc22 - I installed a Williams peep sight on my 94 AE (Legacy .45 Colt). I didn't have to change or adjust the front sight at all. The Williams works very well on this rifle.

I have one on my win 94 .32 special and love it. To answer your Question no you do not have to switch your front sight, just have to take off the rear sight.

Williams Sights

I've got a Trapper AE which I outfitted with a Williams sight. No need to replace the front sight, although I would like to find a tritium front for it.

Tom B,
I'm looking for the FP-94SE, Natchez has them for $40.99 but thanks anyway.

New questions: Do you drift out the stock rear sight to remove it? Left to right, or does it matter?

Yes, there is a right and wrong side to drive out the rear sight or the frontsight also.always drive the sights out from the left side of gun.In other words put your punch, best to use brass,on the left side of sight.

Also, you might have to change out the front sight.Sometimes you do not have to,but I have had to change out to a taller front sight several times when going to a receiver sight.Shoot your gun and if you can sight it in alright than it is fine. However I have found lots if guns will shoot too high after installing a reciever sight even with the sight set at the lowest setting.

I had one installed on my Model 94 .357. It uses the existing front sight. Comes with two sighting discs, one for target and one for hunting. I loved it because the William's sight does not change the balance of the model 94 like a scope would. It is also very accurate and shot to the point of aim. I had to put a little lock-tite on the height adjustment screw threads because the sight shot loose after about 100 rounds. For short range plinking and or hunting, you can't beat the William's receiver sight. :D

Another question: Are the optional target knobs a good idea? I'm guessing that without them you need a screwdriver for adjustments.

The Williams peep on my pre-angle eject '94 worked with the stock front sight for 150's and 170's. It could not adjust the rear sight low enough for the 110 gr Speer and I needed a slightly taller front bead.

If you plan on using the rifle for hunting, target knobs may not be the best option. It is much easier for them to be moved out of alignnment. Once you have the non-target knob sight adjusted, it should stay sighted in for the load you plan on using.
I have the standard Williams FP on Winchester models 94 and pre-64 model 70, without target knobes and they work just fine.
