Williams Receiver Sights?

The groups my son shoots with peep sights are always half the size of standard open sights so I want to surprise him and install a receiver sight on his Ruger 10/22. Does anyone have any experience with the Williams WGRS sight? Its the one that mounts in the two rear scope base holes. I am hoping that with all the additional sight radius and different diameter rear apertures it will help both of us shoot the 10/22 better.

No experience, specifically, but your idea is sound. It's the sort of improvement that should make a real difference in both target-shooting and hunting.

Others should verify, but if this particular sight has various inserts, using no insert at all would give a "ghost-ring" style, which is highly recommended for hunting.

You're going to have to replace the front sight too if you install the WGRS...Williams sells both a rear and front together as a package. The factory front sight is too low to zero the Williams peep. This is one instance in which I feel a good quality low power 'scope is a better deal for handling accuracy and appearance. I have Williams peeps on a lever actions, they usually don't require front sight replacement.
