Will S&W 500 grips fit a 329?

My friend has a S&W 329 4" with the stock wood grips and IMO is unshootable with mags. He received some 500 grips as a present, and can't figure out how to mount them. I haven't seen them, but he said they push on, but there is nothing to secure them like a screw etc. Does he have to install a screw? Thanks,

Frank

Don't think so, the 329 is an N frame and the 500 is an X frame (bigger).

Hogue makes a nice rubber grip for N frames for about $20, not sure if the 329 is round or square butt, but suspect round butt. The rubber does a much better job of cushioning recoil and the finger grooves are much easier to hang on to.

Your friend is discovering the joys of very light very powerful revolvers. :)

The rubber grips from the 500 fit my 3" 629. They covered the backstrap.

I stand corrected, hopefully the 500 grips will work if there is a way to secure them to the gun. Hogue grips come with a U-shaped bracket that hooks to the peg near the butt and acts as an anchor point for the included screw.

I have the Impact Absorbing X-Frame grips on my 629 Magnum Hunter. They work very well. They do not however, just "slip-on". They attach via a screw on the bottom of the grip that attaches to a small clip that fits inside the frame of the grip, as opposed to screws thru the side.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will have to take a look and see what he has, but thought I'd run it across all here first in hopes that someone had already done it.
