Will a new Pietta 1851 cylinder fit an old Pietta gun?

I have an old Pietta 1851 brass framed .44. It has "Navy Arms Co. Ridgefield N.J." marked on the barrel. When it was given to me it was rusted up solid. I am still unable to get the nipples loose. I found out the hard way that the replacement Pietta internal parts from Cabela's do not fit. What are the chances a new replacement cylinder would fit?

I could be wrong but my guess is not much chance.

I like MM's idea of soaking it in ATF and Acetone soup. This mixture has a tendency to separate and you might check it quite often to shake it up.

Another option is PB Blaster. There is reason why nearly every fleet vehicle maintenance shop buys it by the case.

The other thing is that if it is old and if it is Navy Arms, it is likely not from Pietta. More likely from ASP unless you have a marking on it that mentions Pietta.

That is not good news since ASP parts are like hen's teeth.

On the other hand, if it is a Pietta after all even some Pietta parts will require fitting in order to work right.
 
If all that's wrong with the cylinder is that the nipples have become permanently fixed, why not just leave it that way.
Unless there's something wrong with them, and need replacing, that is.
My old cap and ball revolver has had the nipples frozen for many years.
It doesn't know it and shoots as good as ever.

Are you sure it is a Pietta? I bought this 44 Caliber brass framed 'Navy' at the Navy Arms Ridgefield show room when I was a kid in 1968. It was made by Uberti, not Pietta. The marking representing the muzzle of a revolver with a U in the middle is Uberti's trademark.
