Wilderness tactical belt questions

I am considering a Wilderness tactical belt and have a couple of questions.

First regarding the "original" buckle vs the "ring" buckle. Is the original buckles purpose more for a repelling situation?

Second is the importance of ordering the correct length. Since there are no holes to catch in a buckle pin, is the main issue having the correct amount of velcro to secure the tail from flopping?

Thanks

Yes and yes. The original ring is set up for an emergency repel/safety belt. Secondly the belts are cut correctly for you so size is critical. The idea being, like you said, enough velcro material has to loop back and attach, otherwise the strength of "repel" system would not be right. Go at least one size larer than you think unless you are a twig.
