Hey Everybody,

My nephew is booking a trip for us to go to Wilderness Hunting Lodge in TN next February to hunt.

He has recommended the boar hunt, I was hoping to get feedback.

This will be my send hunt (past white tail this season), so from a noobs perspective, whaddya think?

Any input would be appreciated,

Not sure about this one in particular, but I would bet dollars to donuts that its got a huge high fence around it and greatly restricts the ability of the animals to run free.

Not my kind of thing, though you will get to kill an animal (and in my opinion, thats what it is, paying to kill an animal. Minimal hunting involved).

I viewed their website. They advertise 1100 huntable acres for the largest fenced area, with two smaller areas. It is common to separate species from each other. For example, red deer and elk can interbreed but hybrid offsping have very little appeal to many hunters. Sika are known aggressive fighters and they can be harmful to other deer species. Male boar hogs will eat deer fawns in the spring if given the opportunity.

1100 acres is about 1.75 square mile. Although not huge, it is certainly larger than many upstate NY hunting ranches. In my opinion, the size of the area has a lot to do with the quality of the experience.

Pricing for fallow and axis is below the national average. Red stag is priced right as well. Blackbuck thrive in open country; I'm not sure what to forecast. Wild boar is also priced about average.

Plan to see a lot of game. They could either be very spooky or practically tame based upon daily human contact (feeding). Ask about this. Ask for references and call them.

Hunting exotics can be fun and challenging. Plan to leave the scoped Weatherby at home and try your luck with handgun, archery, or open sighted lever action carbine. Some hunters love their muzzle-loaders as well. Good hunting to you.
