Is wild hog gamy at all?
I'm thinking about hog hunting in 2001,
but never had wild hog meat.
Just don't want to bo disappointed with harvest.

Wild hog meat is good and is rarely gamey, or at least the wild hog meat I have eaten hasn't been. There are some cases in which older wild boars meat is pretty rank but those incodents are few in my observations. The pig I killed this year was young and the meat was very tender.

In the swampy bottomland of the Appalachicola River around Blountstown, Florida, the locals build pens to trap wild hogs. They keep the younger shoats in the 40-50 pound range, and let the "grownups" go. This gives an endless supply of supper.

Whether trapping or shooting, it's good eating.
