hi,,, a few months age i bought my wife the ruger lcr in 38+p for her "purse gun" and now after shooting it a few times she is saying it,s too light for her she can't ge used to it .
now what in your opinion would be a good replacement for her ? .
she said she now wants a semi and not a full size frame so a 1911 is out ,darn it .
her sister has a glock 17 ,she don't like that much,,, (i know she's hard to please, bless her cotten socks:)).
any suggestions would be an awsome start point for me as i'm a revolver guy not up much on mid framed semi's.
thank for listerning.

Take her to a range and let HER pick out HER weapon.

this is the correct one. Make sure she actually shoots it and not just holds it. When My wife was picking out her carry gun she liked a 10mm 1911 until she shot it.

She now shoots a Sig P238 (which seems better after its 4th trip to the factory)

I'm a light single-stack 9mm fan... I'm sure some are tired of me singin' this song but I can't help it... Kahr CW9, Ruger LC9, Walther PPS: all in the same ballpark for size, weight, capacity, reliability... Walther more expensive than the other two. But they MAY be too light for her too... 18 oz. range.

Lots of women go for the Walther PPK .380 (the James Bond gun) or the cheaper Bersa version of it... They run @23 oz... I won't list the lighter smaller 9's and .380's 'cause they probably would be too snappy (recoil-wise)for her.

The Kahr K9 is a stylish, neat (and pricier) all-metal upscale gun in the same size class as the 9's in the first paragraph above... runs 25 oz. empty... or the smaller MK9 (24 oz.). These both look GREAT with wood grips BTW.

Good advice, of couse, is to get to a big range with lots of rentals and let her shoot a few to get familiar with what she prefers.

Agreed, let her try out a few more at the range.

A suggestion, the Kahr K9/MK9 would be a good place to start. Mine has been a good shooter and my GF likes it too.

A couple more suggestions:

Bersa Thunder .380

XD subcompact 9mm

Let her take a look at some of the suggestions made and see what she likes.

All sound advice defiantly have her shoot a gun and get comfortable with it.
My wife carries Colt Officers model 6+1 loaded with frangible rounds. She shoots in IDPA matches also.:D
Mace

many choices (she should be in the stores with you to pick):
1. Kahr (CW9, K9, etc).
2. Sig P239
3. .380s - Beretta 85fs, Sig P232, Bersa.

Well here are a few semi-autos that "might be similar but you have to handle/shoot them to see which you like better" Some things for the both of you to try to at the range. On a few of these the grip feels totally different from one gun to the next and might feel better in the hand to a given shooter. But you really don't know how until you make the trip out there.

S&W M&P compact series
Ruger SR9c or 40c
Ruger LC9
Springfield XD sub compact series
CZ RAMI
Glock 19 (a little smaller than the 17), Glock 26 (much smaller than the 17)

You know, there are shorter/smaller versions of the 1911 that aren't full size frames. But that of course depends on if she takes a liking to it and if your wife is comfortable carrying cocked and locked and getting used to dealing with a manual safety.

have fun!

Full agreement with egor20
Take her to a range and let HER pick out HER weapon.

Now I do not know your wife, but in my limited experience, I would say that its not necessarily the gun, but the fact that she was not able to select her own weapon. Apologies if I'm off the mark.

But best bet is let her pick her own.

any suggestions would be an awsome start point for me

In my experience, women tend to look at guns differently than us men. The "cute" factor is a major consideration for many females. Most of us guys won't find the "cuteness" if it's right in front of our noses, but women can sense it a mile off. Your only way out of this predicament is to go to a well stocked gun shop and let her choose the weapon she wants.

Her choice = marital and marksmanship bliss. ;)

Let her try a Bersa Thunder .380,,,

Mine has been a flawless performer.

There are lots of guns she might like,,,
This is one of them.

I absolutely love my XDm 9mm compact. I first bought a full size and it's great for the range and for home defense, but it's just a little too big (for me) to carry. I bought the compact a couple of weeks ago and my first time out with it we became best friends. Now it's the love of my life!

Another one I was looking at and was considering is the Bersa Thunder. I like that one, too, but the XDm just felt better to me. I know alot of people suggest the Sig, but they just don't fit my hand like the XDm or the Bersa. Of course, that's just me - I know they're a great gun and might be just what your wife wants.

I agree wholeheartedly with those that are telling you to let her pick out her own gun. There is no way I'd let my husband or anyone else pick out mine - it's way too personal of a decision.

Glock 26/19, M&P9, Kahr CM9, Taurus 709 slim, and the Ruger SR9c all fit the bill. Have her hold/shoot them and see what her preference is.
