Well, looks like I'm in the market for a new Revolver for Xmas. I currently own 2 revolvers. Both are Ruger's, a GP100 and an SP101. I really enjoy Rugers, but also like S&W as well. So I've decided to get a S&W and have narrowed it down to this model:

Here it is for sale on gunbroker.com, which is probably where I'd purchase it from:

What do you guys think? Opinions? Suggestions? Does the grey titanium cylinder look retarded against the Blued finish?

Give me your honest thoughts, both good and bad please!

Thanks a lot guys!

Oh, here is my second choice:

Overall, it's between these two, though I am leaning towards the first model.

thumbs up for your wife

I obviously have a sister somewhere that I didn't know about, LOL :D

You will LOVE tha HIVIZ sight. We were looking at a S&W last night for the hubster, and that thing is very nice. Good choice where I sit.

its all in the application

Like i say, its all in the application and or budget, simple or as complicated as that . see ya

Both are nice. I would probably go with the blue model. I just think blue looks good. If I could afford to do so, I would have all my stainless guns finished in Black-T.

Just My Opinion!

You asked for opinions and I like to express mine ocassionaly and on the choice between these two revolvers, I have one! Although I like blued guns better than SS, I think the finish on the 520 is ugly:barf: . Besides, you already have a 357, why not get a different caliber like the model 17 in .22 or the 57 in 41 or the 29 in .44? The 520 is not what I would buy but I'm not you so buy what you want and enjoy. But of the two, I much prefer the 620. You didn't state how you came to narrow your choice to those two and I'd be interested to here how they become the choices. And THANKS for asking my opinion!

I gotta agree with one thing 100%: I lovelovelovelove blue guns and I hate that 520. I think the matte finish is ugly and the alloy cylinder, ick. The 620 is okay, but it's basically a 686 without the full lug, and the 686 is, for all intents and purposes, the Smith equivalent to the GP100. But, boy that 520 is ugly. The 586 L-comp is much nicer

I suggest moving beyond .357. How about a .38? Some of them are fun and no cleaning out cylinder rings from shooting .38 in .357. How about .22? It sounds so wimpy but you might be surprised how much those 617s are to shoot. And how much they'll improve your shooting. And how much money you'll save on ammo. Or maybe you nee a bigger bore? A .44 mag to blast out the range or a .45 acp to cause some real bodily harm.

So many Smiths, so little time. Just stay away from that 686 or else you'll be selling that GP100 fast.

Two strikes against the 520 for me:

1. HiViz - light tubes belong on shotguns.
2. 7 shots - revolvers should be sixshooters.
