wife got her first gun today

I finally talked my wife into getting her own handgun for personal defense. She has shot mine before in the past but never showed much interest. Today we went to the gun store and spent over an hour looking at different guns. She finally decided on a stainless 2" 357 mag revolver. We bought 100 rnds of 38 specials and a box of 357 mag hydrashocks.

We went straight from the gun store to the range and she was asking a lot of questions and was very interested in her new gun. At the range she shot all 100 of the 38's and a few 357's just to get used to the added recoil. She is a small woman and I was worried about the recoil, but she never complained. She said she had a good time shooting and wants to get her CHL now.

My wife doesn't usually take much interest in all my gun stuff or hunting adventures, but I am quite pleased that she has taken an interest in protecting herself.

Congradualtions, bdog. A word of caution though. I was delighted when Terri did the same thing. Now I find her addiction nearly as bad as my own. The realization now is that it double our gun budget.
It's nice to have such problems. ;)

Gunslinger

I was promised a Shortycicle and I want a Shortycicle!

Ditto what Gunslinger said.
On the positive side, presents are easier to buy! ;) Take her out and let her pick out her own range bag to carry her stuff to the range. My wife had a ball getting little pewter animal figures to adorn hers. I can usually tell when the urge to go shooting is starting to build up too. She spends time downstairs with a glue stick reconditioning old shot up targets with construction paper, scanning the Sunday flyers for ammo sales and stuff. Lately I've spotted her eyeing my reloading press without that look of "messy-guy-thing-gadget" in her eye. Hmmmmmmm.

Congratulations on her first gun, its a addiction after the first taste. :)

WHEN IT COMES TO FRIENDS THE SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT

Thanks for the comments. It just keeps getting better and better. She is so excited about her new gun that she decided to go visit her parents today (2 hour drive each way) to show her dad how well she can shoot. She stopped on the way there and picked up some more ammo at the gun shop all on her own. I am so proud. Thanks for the links Wagcevp. I will tell her about them. I already signed her up with the NRA.

Good for you and her, but...

Being in Kalifornia, it always pi$$es me off when I hear prople talk so matter-of-factly about getting their CHL. :(
