After making my first reloads for my Rem 700 ADL .30-06, I figured that I'd better do something about reducing the really stiff out-of-the-box trigger pull. Before, I was reluctant to mess with it but I'm really curious about my reload accuracy and I typically can't pull the trigger on this gun without considerable force (which always makes me want to flinch).
So, I took the action out and was looking at what screws I'd have to play with per the instructions that I had. I changed my mind again and decided to by an aftermarket drop in trigger by Timney or Jewell.
But, upon putting the gun back together, without ever having adjusted any screws other that those involved in removing the trigger guard and barrel, I found that the trigger pull had dropped considerably! And, it's at a level where I'm comfortable leaving it.
I know that some instructions said that cleaning the trigger group out might remove factory grit that would be causing stiff trigger pull but I really did nothing of the sort.
Anyone have any idea as to what might have happened?
