Why won't they build exactly what I want?

Truly the answer is I wouldn't have anything to do in my spare time, and I do like to scrounge up stuff to make it mine...

For instance: FNH doesn't make their SPR in but one calibre and although .308 is quite spiffy, how about .243? And although the stock choices are nice, how about an M40a1 with adjustable check rest? Throw in a TBM and that's about right... Start with a New Winchester Coyote Varmint, which cost just a shade more than the FNH action by itself...

Before and After:

A lot more than the cosmetic went into it, but you all get the idea.

Then there's the T3 Tikka Tactical .308. Pretty close out of the box, but no cigar.

So, the question is, who else takes hammer and hacksaw to perfectly good guns and might we see some before and after?

I have built a lot of different things but my custom gun plans just never seam to make it to the work bench. Other than a bit of tweaking hear and there. Part of the problem is my plans tend to involve starting with bar stock and building from there. I no longer have the shop for that but might again someday.

In life, just about everything I own is custom in some way :D

I have many, many custom guns... but also have probably just as many that are still as the factory made them...

some "look" completely stock... I have an all weather Ruger 77 - 22 Hornet, that looks completely stock, but before I ever fired it, I replaced the standard twist barrel with a 1 in 9" twist 223 barrel ( with a 22 Hornet chamber of course )

some like my BRNO 30-06, underwent a complete transformation, with a blueprinted action, heavy laminated stock, & rebarreling / rechambering to 6.5 X 284, complete with custom machined 20 MOA adjusted bases

I don't have many before & after pictures, but most seem like they are on my handguns

very nice, trigger. I kindof wish that the ruger gunsite came in 243 a simple barrel change is all that's needed and some different stock options besides black laminate would be nice, something lightweight...

Nice builds!
I haven't done any extensive gun projects, but as we Jeepers like to say, "It's not yours until you drill a hole in it."
