Went to the range yesterday to practice for deer season in a few weeks. I have an 870 express 12g w/Rslug barrel.
Range = 50yds *about the length of shots in my woods*
Remington Buckhammer slugs $9.99 @ Dicks for 5 rounds, = $2.00 per shot
50 yards = 1 big ragged hole in center of target
(Freakin ouch, these things hurt)
Lightfield Hybred EXP $8.99 @ Dick's 5 rnds = $1.80 per shot.
50 yards = 1 big ragged hole in center of target
(Not as bad, but still kick very healthly)
Remington Slugger $6.47 box of 15 @ Walmart = $.43 per shot
50 yards = 1 big ragged hole in center of target
(these dont hurt, I shot all 30 of them in one sitting, had two boxes)
My accuracy with the Sluggers was actually a tad better than the others, w/the buckhammers and the lightfields I started to flinch because they Hurt.
So my question, why buy the more expensive ones? Is there any real advantage? I am sure that the 1oz of lead in the Sluggers is very sufficient for an Ohio Whitetail, shot placement being paramount. Any thoughts?
