I couldn't figure it out for the longest time. Even if you disagree with the leadership and the policies, why bash individual scouts? I watched a few minutes of Gloria Allred on Hannity and Colmes bash these kids tonight and it was baffling.
Then, in another thread, someone posted the Boy Scout Oath and it all became clear! The seeds of destruction for the whole Pinko-Statist establishment is all right there! If the scouts were to succeed, if their philosophy as embodied in their oath and slogan (Be Prepared!) became widespread, the Left would be out of business.

(here's a major stumbling block right here. Honor cannot coexist with moral relativism. And moral relativism is a cornerstone of Socialism)
I will do my best
(God forbid. Unbelievably, not just a few but MOST people who try thier hardest succeed to some degree in our great country)
To do my duty to God and my country
(Nationalism, God and the idea of obligation beyond just stuffing your pie-hole and getting some nookie. The Left hates these ideas and if become widespread, will destroy Socialism)
and to obey the Scout Law;
(Better not have any conviction, kids, beyond your obligation to the State. Keep your thoughts in check and don't think past the rules layed out by Big Brother)
To help other people at all times;
(WHAT! Help others without government sanction or subsidy? Perish the thought. Don't get that independent streak going or there's no telling what might happen)
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
(Morals? Mental preparedness and awareness? Physical prowess? How can you be a good victim if you insist on these things? Answer is, you can't)
So you see, if the Scouts succeed, the Left is destroyed philosophically and ideologically. They are sworn enemies. Don't be fooled, the Pinkos will not stop until they have either perverted the goals and ideals of Scouting to fit thier twisted agenda OR destroyed Scouting altogether.
And THAT is why the Left hates the Boy Scouts.
