why the concern over 223 ball effectiveness?

we are civilians, and can get 64 gr softpts. On animals, such 223's do BETTER than 7.63x39 ball rds do! :-) Since you hear little complaints about ak's failing to stop people,what does that say about 223 sp's? Just load every other rd ball, if sp penetration of windshields worries you.most guys figure on one hit with every 50 rds anyway, apparently, since they favor carrying 300-400 rds. Just how many guys do you FANTASIZE that you can defeat by yourself, anywaY? This isnt york's bolt action world anymore,and it hasnt been for 60+ years. You WILL be by yourself, best plan for same

I figure I can take out somewhere between a company and a battalion. Not with a gun, either. I figure to get a job as cook or pearl-diver at whatever cafe is their hangout. If Jesse Jackson can spit in the soup, I can add some e. coli.

How many enemies can realistically be defeated by
one Milita Soldier? What did you mean with the York comment?
As in, plan for being alone and not a bolt action world.
All combatants are expected to have rapid firepower,
so the battle field is level. Right?
 
That's why I have two rifles. One for reaching (.270 Winchester) and the other for volume (AR15).

As far as hitting them with E. Coli, forget it. Prion warfare is the next battlefield menace. JFWIW, some scrapie cultures (a known prion induced disease) have survived ashing at 600 C! How would one decontaminate after a BSE attack? Sorry, those M8's won't register a thing. Its a slow disease but damn near impossible to detect until too late.
 
As related to the "perfect rifle"; I always thought the perfect rifle was the one a person could use proficiently. I'm not talking smokepoles here but a Garand with the right nut behind the trigger? If you live past the first attack you'll have more rifles, ammo and other weapons that you can carry. It kind of parallels(dare I)golf to a degree, more focus on the form/practice than the equipment will lead to results. Not trying to ruffle feathers just my .02

Who out there is counting on one hit per 50 rounds? There's a difference between using a rifle to shoot at targets (paper or live) and using a rifle for suppressive fire, which is what an AR type rifle does excel at. Remember, since we're talking solitary action here what does suppressive fire gain you? Look, in all of this "what will I do against the minions of the oppressive gubmint" nobody thinks they'll be Alvin York shootin' down the trenchline. The point is to make oppressing the population too costly for the government to bear, and nobody is fooling themselves by thinking that such action won't involve personal sacrifice of their life. They are simply looking for the tools that will enable them to make such a conflict as costly as possible for the other side whether it be with a HBAR, a 30-06 boltgun, a Sharps 45-90 or a few test tubes of e. Coli.
 
What do you mean "We are civilians"? My closet is stuffed full of uniforms and I have a lot of black boots under my bed. I get P.O. because I am issued a rifle and cartridge which are adequate. I don't want adequate I want the best we can make even if it only gives me a 5% or 10% advantage. Our army shows a lack of imagination about small arms and has done so since the begining. The last outstanding thing we did was adopt the M203 and thats about 30 years old.
