Why Not a S&W Scandium or Titanium K-Frame??

Why has S&W not revived the airweight K-Frame with the new metals now available? It seems to me that the perfect carry revolver would be a Scandium .38/.357 with a round butt, fixed sights, and a 2.5 or 3 inch barrel.

Thoughts?

Why not buy the Sc .357mag and shoot .38spl through it???

Because it's only available in teeny 5-shot J-frame and honkin'-huge 7-shot L-frame flavors. A Ti/Sc resurrection of the Model 12, but chambered in .357, would be swoopy. A 3" fixed-sight K-frame is already a primo carry gun; making it lighter would be gooderer... :)

I'd settle a aluminum alloy framed model 12 in .38 Special if they would make it.

My all steel 640-1 is mean enough for me. I don't need to punish myself with a 12 oz. .357.

Thanks Tamara!!
I have only recently ended my long standing boycott of S&W and have become interested in them!!! Most of what has happened in the Smith world is a complete mystery to me!!

"I have only recently ended my long standing boycott of S&W and have become interested in them."

So what's changed to cause that? Did they finally repudiate the agreement in writing, unbenownst to me? Or is simply time and faded memories enough to expunge them?

El Lurch,

The 396 is an L-frame; the larger of the two medium-size frames. The K-frame is a touch more svelte and slightly thinner through the cylinder, giving it an edge in totability over the sturdier L.

I have trouble keeping S & W frames straight!

I have a S&W 386 which is a 7-shot TiScan in 38/357. Which frame is it? Good shooting;)
