Why is the Beretta so damn heavy?

The BHP is all steel and is sooooo much lighter and well balanced. That Beretta slide must be intended as a last ditch detachable club.

Beretta's website states the 92FS weighs 34.4 oz. Browning's website states the standard BHP weighs 32 oz. Hmmm...not much difference according to the math.

if you can hold it, aim it, and hit your target.... then it's not that heavy. I would imagine, that you can better control your shot placement and faster follow-ups with a heavier piece. I have a Taurus pt99, and it is somewhat heavy when loaded up, but it doesn't bother me, because I am doing rather well with it.

Uhhh. . . yeah, its a whole lot lighter. A whopping 2.4 ounces.

I'd guess its "so damn heavy" because its barrel is 0.15 inches longer.

You've got serious problems if you think the Beretta is soooooo much heavier than the Hi-Power. In fact, most people would be hard pressed to tell which one was heavier just hefting the two. Guess 2 ounces make a big difference to those who are weight sensitive?

If you're talking size, well then you've got something there (nothing new, but a real issue).

As far as balance, balance is subjective. The Berettas balance just fine if you ask me.

What is the point of this post anyway?

It must be where the 2.4 oz is. I have both and LOVE shooting the Browning and NEVER want to shoot the Beretta.
Gotta keep it though because it is double action and my shop gun. It is a good gun but just does not feel as good.

Where is the 2.4 oz?

All up top, and then some. The High Power has a shorter, thinner slide and a steel frame. The Beretta has a longer, wider slide and an aluminum frame. This could result in some of the top/muzzle-heavy feeling you are relating.
