Why I hate the NRA

No, this isn't a political rant.

If you join the NRA (as I did because the local gun club requires membership), you get flooded with spam emails and letters.

DVDs of "tactical training", terrible offers for wine of the month clubs even a street hobo would pass up, ridiculous clothing that looks like surplus from late night TV shopping shows...

I understand the point of a gun lobby.

But I really don't want to renew my membership if it means they'll be sending me "exciting new offers!"

As has been noted on TFL a number of times:
Opt Out
We also use your membership information to send you notices in the mail or by email about special member benefits, discounts, and offers. If you do not wish to receive these mailings, you can: (1) opt-out of email lists immediately by following the instructions at the bottom of the email, (2) email us using our Contact Us page, (3) call us at 1-800-672-3888, (4) write to us at National Rifle Association of America, 11250 Waples Mill Road; Fairfax, VA 22030.

Yep, you can opt out of those mailings. I got tired of it too and called them. I was polite, and simply requested no more mailings. For the past 5 years or so, all I get is membership renewal notices.
